BBC Sports is using Focus recorders as a replacement for legacy field tape deck. Located inside various OB-van trucks in a half rack bay, FS-T2001 monitors and records the live feed (SDI) in XDCAM HD422 50Mb/s onto SxS cards for immediate backup / ingest of the content back to the station.

“Used in harsh and diverse environments such as the winter alpine ski world championship and the 6 nations rugby championship, FS-T2001 has proven to be a compact, efficient and reliable solution for our live backup recording needs.” reports Christopher Groom, Post Production Lead at BBC Sports.

“Their adoption of the FS-T2001 is a great indication that VITEC has developed the perfect tool for broadcast field acquisition” said Richard Bernard, product manager of broadcast solutions for VITEC. “The replacement of their on-field XDCAM tape recorder is an important first step and VITEC is committed to continue to work closely with major broadcast organizations to enhance and facilitate their workflow; this is an exciting time for our FS-T2001 broadcast recorder.”
