Modernizing Conferencing and Communication at BVK
Belgrade Waterworks & Sewerage (BVK), a major utility provider in Serbia, has bolstered its internal communication capabilities by modernising its conferencing infrastructure through a strategic partnership with TRS and VITEC.
Facing challenges with outdated technology and increasing demands for seamless, high-quality audio and video experiences, BVK sought a future-proof solution to enhance both on-site and remote participation for its conference events. The outcome is an advanced IPTV system that streamlines operational processes, enhances user experience and strengthens internal communications.
The client
BVK is responsible for delivering essential water and sewerage services across Belgrade. With a large conference facility at its headquarters and a network of treatment facilities, pumping stations, and offices, BVK regularly hosts meetings and events that require reliable, high-quality audio and video distribution.
The organization is committed to modernising its infrastructure and improving operational efficiency, ensuring that both on-site and remote participants can benefit from seamless access to live and recorded content.
The Challenge
Prior to the upgrade, BVK’s conference room relied on a custom-built AV control and video distribution system that had become increasingly difficult to maintain. The video distribution component, originally state-of-the-art, had grown complex and unsustainable as technology advanced. Technical staff were required at every event, and the equipment’s age meant replacements and software support were no longer available.
BVK needed a solution that would simplify room control, improve the audio and visual experience, enable live broadcasting to remote offices, and allow for recording and replay of conferences on BVK’s private YouTube channel. The organization also wanted to create an interactive information portal and ensure the new system would be scalable and future-proof.
The Solution
TRS, a leading AV integrator in the Balkan region, designed and delivered a comprehensive IPTV solution powered by VITEC’s Avedia platform and ChannelLink gateway. This system enables BVK to capture, manage, and distribute live and on-demand video content seamlessly across multiple facilities. Recorded livestreams are uploaded directly to the BVK YouTube channel, giving users the opportunity to review content at their leisure in one centralized location. Several VITEC end-points were installed across the main facility and three remote offices, allowing directors and management to view live presentations without needing to travel. The Avonic CM93-IP professional PTZ camera was chosen for its high-quality imaging and future-proof capabilities, supporting up to 4K60 resolution (configured to Full HD for optimal performance).
The system operates over BVK’s dedicated fibre network, ensuring enhanced reliability, low latency, and improved security. TRS also integrated displays from Samsung, casting solutions from Barco, and adapted the existing audio system for full compatibility. To empower BVK’s engineering staff, TRS conducted on-site technical training and provided comprehensive documentation, enabling the in-house team to manage and operate the system independently.

The Result
The deployment of the VITEC IPTV solution and associated upgrades have transformed the conference experience at BVK. Participants now benefit from improved audio and video quality, with increased comfort even in the most remote areas of the room. Managers can attend conferences live from other buildings or watch replays on demand, while maintenance and support have been simplified thanks to remote management capabilities. The system’s scalability ensures that BVK can easily adapt to future needs, whether by adding new end-points or upgrading to advanced features such as 4K video workflows and content archival.
The intuitive user interface makes operation straightforward for nontechnical staff, and remote management simplifies maintenance and troubleshooting. The installation also provides a foundation for future developments, including the addition of new locations, higher-resolution video formats, or digital signage applications.
Future Expansion
The system has been designed for scalability. BVK intends to expand the IPTV network to additional sites and explore new applications such as internal digital signage and public information broadcasting. The infrastructure’s flexibility ensures it can evolve alongside the organization’s needs, providing a sustainable and future-proof solution.
