Working at VITEC

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join as a Product Trade, Compliance & Sustainability Technical Specialist.  It is a new position that has been created to provide the advice and support to our teams to ensure new and existing products meet the required product specific trade, regulatory and compliance standards for the global market.  With VITEC’s green initiative this role is also instrumental in further developing our mission to improve on Eco-Design and reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

The following list, indicative and not exhaustive, illustrates the main missions.

Key responsibilities:

As part of projects and product development:

• Analysis of regulatory requirements related to calls for tenders and product specifications and, in conjunction with the teams, implementation of the actions required to meet them.
• Advice to project and engineering teams, coordination with external labs to conduct product testing.
• Preparation and maintenance of declarations of conformity and technical files.
• Management of country-specific registration and approval procedures.
• Participation in product release reviews to ensure regulatory compliance.

As part of the group's environmental approach:

• Development and monitoring of indicators to measure the evolution of the environmental footprint of the company and its products (studies such as carbon footprint ...).
• Definition and animation of action plans with internal teams (R&D, production, purchasing, sales, marketing), partners and suppliers.
• Promotion of the eco-design approach within the group.

As part of the conformity assurance of product portfolio

• Identification and study of regulatory and normative constraints (electrical safety, EMC, labelling, restrictions of hazardous substances, import/export control, etc.) applicable to the company's products on its markets.
• Development of guides and procedures, awareness-raising, and training actions to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Regulatory monitoring and anticipation of developments, management of annual declarations required by the authorities (WEEE waste, dual-use goods).

As part of the management of the group quality system:

• Participation in working groups as part of the company's quality approach.
• Monitoring and ensuring compliance of operational practices. Initiation, implementation, and follow-up of corrective or preventive actions required in case of non-compliance.
• Participation in internal audits, processing of product change requests and maintenance of the document system, including the regulatory and normative knowledge base.

Key dimensions of the role:

Qualifications

Educated to Degree level – Engineering or Business related. Or a time served engineer with experience in this subject area, or it will suit someone with relevant qualified business experience.

Knowledge/skills

• Experience of working within a global organisation that design and manufacture new products and/or develop existing products.
• Experience of working in a similar technical role.  Involved in projects end to end as a subject matter specialist related to product changes/new product development in respect of compliance and regulations.  Sustainability/eco design experience would be advantageous.
• Technical ability and soft skills to work closely with the R&D department, engineering teams, laboratories, and various others to get new products approved to the level of legal and compliance market standards.
• Have a good understanding and knowledge of technical and regulatory compliance standards and the ability to interpret data - translate and share knowledge with colleagues and teams.  Follow up of regulation/safety standards - keep up to date with any changes that are required and ensure compliance.
• Regulatory - Review legal documents – work independently to effectively research markets, analyse, and interpret legal information.  This is a key part of the role and training and development in this area could be provided.
