About the Role

The VITEC Technical Support Team provides VITEC product specific Technical Support to our partners and customers, helping to answer questions and solve problems.

The European Technical Support Team is based in offices in Dalgety Bay, Paris and Kiel, and also works closely with the company’s Technical Support Teams in the Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

This role is based in our office in Dalgety Bay. It is necessary to be physically in the office in order to work directly with the wide range of VITEC products in our lab.

Role Specific Responsibilities

The position of Technical Support Engineer will involve the following duties on a day to day basis:

• Providing email/telephone support to our partners and customers during office hours, Monday - Friday
• Troubleshooting problems/answering questions related to:
  • VITEC’s IPTV and digital signage products/solutions
  • Digital video and broadcast TV
  • IP networking and IP multicast
  • Integration with third party products
• Assisting application developers to integrate with our products using our published APIs
• Writing knowledgebase articles to share information both internally and externally
• Collaborating with colleagues in our global Technical Support Team, to collectively help solve customer issues

The role may also involve the following on an occasional basis:

• Travel, mainly in the UK or Western Europe, in order to assist with equipment installation and/or troubleshooting (at most one week per month)
• Weekend on-call cover (at most once per month)

You will have a qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Networking or a related field and ideally will be a technical professional with experience in post-sales support, pre-sales support and/or field engineer roles.

To be successful in the role you will have the following knowledge & skills:

• Good general skills in computing and technology
• Working knowledge of Linux
• Knowledge of IP network-based products and IP networking solutions
• Knowledge of digital audio/video technologies
• Skills in software, shell scripting and/or web development
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills
