The exceptionally powerful Vitec VP3-PMC is a multi-DSP platform that can be programmed to perform intensive parallel video processing such as real time AVC/H.264 encoding, MPEG-2 to AVC/H.264 transcoding, image processing, real time content analysis and more. The board can be used as a PMC mezzanine board in conjunction with compact PCI, standard PCI and VME-compliant carrier boards.
Vitec VP3-PMC integrates five parallel digital signal processors (DSPs) with clock rates of 720 MHz for up to 28 GIPS and up to 96 GOPS. Each DSP has 32 MB of private local memory for throughput of 1,200 MB/S. A powerful FPGA with overall capacity of 1.5 million gates enables implementation of features including DMA transfer controllers, a CABAC co-processor, programmable horizontal video scaling and triple LUT color conversion.
The Vitec VP3-PMC’s processors may be configured as a simple pipeline, in a fully parallel scheme, or in a mixed configuration. The configurable architecture gives the Vitec VP3-PMC platform flexibility to meet the specific needs of a wide range of applications. In addition to a 3V3 PCI interface, the board features a JN4 connector with 64IOs signals which can be software-configured to fit with any pin-out requested by the carrier board.DSP, SDRAM and inter-DSP DMA clock frequencies may be adjusted by the developer.
