CELTIC HIPERMED Project
High Performance Telemedicine Platform
HIPERMED will design an open telemedicine platform based on a unified Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) providing media services, SIP-based control plane services and network services over the Internet Protocol (IP). The platform will support remote consulting, tele-teaching and distributed consensus decision-making on treatment programmes. VITEC will participate to the implementation of scenarios enabling different hospitals to share image and video data between medical practitioners up to 3D vision and stereo endoscopy and to contribute to the learning of medical practices in a secure manner.
EUROSTARS FASTViD Project
Hardware Solution for Extremely Low Delay Compression/Decompression of Video Streams for Reliable Transmission in real time.
The FASTViD project aims at the development of a prototype of integral wireless microchips able to encode and decode video (and audio) streams with extremely low delay (<30 ms). The basic objectives are to design and develop working prototypes of the proposed microchips on FPGA and to design and develop the prototypes of electronic devices using these microchips. VITEC is contributing to the development of the coding algorithms on FPGA and to the provision of FPGA-based electronic boards enabling to demonstrate the efficiency of the FASTViD solution.
FP7-ICT ROMEO Project
Remote Collaborative Real-Time Multimedia Experience over the Future Internet
ROMEO is a European research project that will bring new immersive 3D media to European citizens at home as well as on the move. In order to support these application scenarios, ROMEO will focus on new methods for the compression and delivery of multi-view 3D video and spatial audio, as well as optimising the networking and compression jointly across Future Internet. VITEC is contributing to the capture, the coding and the synchronization of scalable multi-view + depth video streams.
ICT-FP7 ALICANTE Project
The ALICANTE advanced concept provides Content-awareness to the Network Environment, Network- and User Context-awareness to the Service Environment, and adapted services/content to the End-User for his best service experience possible, taking the role of a consumer and/or producer. In this project, VITEC (Optibase) contributes to the adaptation of content and acts as a WP leader.
ICT-FP7 DIOMEDES Project
DIOMEDES project will focus on new methods for the compression and delivery of multi-view video and multi-channel audio to users. The DIOMEDES approach is to develop a 3D Peer-to-Peer (P2P) distribution system, which will be designed jointly with novel video compression techniques. The compression, distribution, and security technologies developed within DIOMEDES will be demonstrated in the form of an integrated test bed. In this project VITEC (Optibase) contributes the streaming of MVC and is a WP leader.
ICT-FP7 OptiBand Project
OptiBand project focus is on optimizing the bandwidth of IPTV for the delivery of multiple HD streams over a single ADSL line, and by that enabling multiple HD channels per household. In this project VITEC (Optibase) contributes video encoding and streaming technologies and leads the architecture work package.
